About Artist

In a few words, Razvan Albu is a singer, guitarist and songwriter from Bucharest, Romania.

But the real story begins some years back when Razvan, captivated by classic rock, discovered his innate talent to write, arrange and perform music. Things started to get more serious during a 7-year stay in the U.S. and Canada, when Nirvana's Unplugged in New York determined the young artist to pick up the guitar. Once that bond was made there was no turning back. Razvan first recorded his songs on a 4-track; they were basic arrangements, involving drums, bass, electric guitar and vocal tracks. As time passed the music evolved and by 2001 so many recordings had been made that a first album, Dreams, was put out to critical acclaim. The album contained strong compositions, however due to lack of funds only 100 copies were issued independently. The very limited number of copies, as well as the album's "bedroom recording" quality, make it a rare bootleg today.

Still, a few of the basic song structures from Dreams were developed further, and starting with September 2006 all the way until July 2007, Razvan recorded 7 new tracks at his home studio in Bucharest, Romania. The new album, all in Romanian and entitled Jocuri Fara Nume (i.e. Games Without Names), was mixed at Bias Studios and mastered at Cue Recording in Virginia, USA. The new release garnered significant attention, which translated into radio and live appearances. Razvan earned the special jury's prize at the music festival "Aurelian Andreescu", made live appearances at the "Om Bun" and "ASE" music festivals (alongside artists such as Mircea Baniciu, Mircea Vintila and Vasile Seicaru), and received airplay on Romanian radio stations. A 2-hour program was dedicated solely to the artist on Radio3Net and during Andrei Partos' show on the Romanian national radio station.

Razvan finalized his 2nd major solo album - entirely in English and entitled Straw Man - in May 2010. The new album is a rough concept on media manipulation and control and introduces a harder, guitar-oriented rock sound. Most of the guitar solos and bass parts were done by virtuoso David Berry. The album was mixed at Farview Recording and mastered at Massive Mastering in Chicago, USA. Straw Man was noted by several radio stations such as City FM (the track Backdoor was proposed for the Romanian top) and the national radio station, which led to Razvan's 2nd appearence on Andrei Partos' show.

And so the story continues...
